The Silesian Music Society was established in 1999 by a new generation of musicians to carry out cultural initiatives, including concerts, festivals, seminars, and music courses, as well as to engage in publishing and educational activities. The main objectives of the Association are to broaden the audience and community of music lovers, foster patronage for non-commercial artistic endeavors, and collaborate with European cultural institutions, media, and artists across various disciplines.
Since its inception in 1999, the Silesian Music Society has realized several hundred artistic ventures, concert series, festivals, lectures, exhibitions, and educational and artistic workshops. It has commissioned numerous works from Polish and international composers, organizing their premiere performances, and has supported the release of over a dozen CDs featuring Silesian performers by securing funding and collaborating with leading Polish record labels.
The Society focuses on executing unique undertakings and original projects by Silesian musicians, exploring the connections between music and contemporary culture along with its current issues, and building relationships within local communities to create a space for dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
