In December, the "Sources" concert series by the duo Joanna Domańska and Magdalena Lisak, featuring music by Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski, came to a close. Marking the 140th anniversary of Karol Szymanowski's birth, the concerts presented a new arrangement of the ballet Harnasie for two pianos alongside Mazurkas by Chopin and Szymanowski. The event calendar included performances in Bratislava (November 23), Ostrava (December 6), and Prague (December 17). This project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Culture Promotion Fund

In 1923, Zakopane hosted the lavish wedding of Jerzy Rytard, a friend of Karol Szymanowski, and Hanna Roj, a native Highlander. Szymanowski was the guest of honour and "invited" guests to the wedding on the eve of the celebration. The wedding—complete with colourful rituals, dancing to a Highlander band, and a brawl where the bride's brother intervened brandishing a double-barrelled shotgun—sparked the composer's imagination and led to his decision to compose a Highlander ballet. The premiere took place at the Národní Divadlo in Prague in 1935, and a year later, the ballet was staged in Paris with choreography by Serge Lifar, achieving immense success. Szymanowski's mastery in blurring the line between folk quotation and its artistic transformation places Harnasie alongside Chopin's brilliant compositions. The transcription for two pianos by Joanna Domańska is a virtuoso arrangement of the complete work designed for concert performance.
